LET’S START WITH WHY
WHY SPEECH & DEBATE?
1. The Importance of Communication
One of the most foundational skills we can give to our children as they grow up in our household is effectively communicating to as broad a range of listeners as possible and learning how to do it with love, honor, humility, and respect for their listener.
2. Retelling God’s amazing story in our lives
As Christ-Followers, we’re all called to share the gracious gift of love and mercy we’ve received from Him in a loving, humble, honorable, and winsome manner. We love because HE first loved us!
3. Standing on Our Shoulders
Many of us did not have the opportunity to develop our communication skills until we became adults — and you may be able to relate, but by that time, it felt like it was too late. Wouldn’t it be great if our children could have the opportunity to rise above us and stand on our shoulders? So, we’re here to partner with you to help equip our next generation!
4. Now More Than Ever
Critical thinking and logic are lost skills that our current culture does not prioritize as we equip our next generation. Yet, it’s as important a tool as a compass and a map are for an explorer preparing to set forth to cross a vast ocean. Speech and debate are vehicles that will help your child develop these lost skills, so they’ll be prepared to critically and logically navigate all aspects of life. They will also learn the skill of communicating information and using persuasive techniques — not to manipulate, but rather to lovingly communicate truth.
